Joel Bootsma in concert with Quinte Symphony

Hope to see you there!  Since there were too many violas for the size of the orchestra this year, Joel was asked to switch to violin to bolster their numbers.  Should be a fun concert.

Looking for a Logo

Red Door String Studio is working on making a logo for shirts and publicity materials.  So, if you are somewhat artistic or have an eye for graphic design, feel free to send us your ideas!  We were hoping for an image that includes a door (no suprise there) and something that evokes a violin shape.  We would like to eventually get this image digitized.  Thanks for your help!

So the power goes out during lessons....what do we do?

With the time change, it gets darker around 5:30, right in the middle of violin lessons.  Power goes out? No problem, violin lessons by candle light! It's much easier when you aren't totally dependent on your sheet music; thank goodness for playing by memory! Good job students, and thank you for putting up with our "ambience" lighting.

There is a Baroque and Folk concert coming up on April 28, hosted by the Belleville Choral Society.  Here is some of the blurb from their website:

St. Michael the Archangel Parish, known for its unsurpassed acoustical properties, will be the venue for the concert. It is located at 296 Church St., Belleville. Tickets will be available at the Quinte Arts Council, St. Michael's office, and at the door. Adults $20., Youth 6-18 yrs. $5.

The repertoire includes exuberant selections from the glorious and timeless Bach 'Magnificat' Oratorio. Joining the choir are vocal guest soloists Holly Gwynne-Timothy (Soprano), Kim Dafoe (Alto) and Gordon Gwynne-Timothy (Tenor), as well as instrumental guests Joel Bootsma (viola), Heather Schreiner (obo/recorder), and The County Baroque Ensemble performing on musical instruments characteristic of the era. Selections feature excerpts from one of Bach's cello suites. Irish and Scottish Folk music, contemporary classics along with other favourites will comprise another component of the choir's impressive program. The collaborations between choir, soloists and instrumentalists will assuredly be the highlight for audience, musicians and choir alike.
